When All Other Lights Go Out

It bees like that sometimes. The moonless night of the soul falls upon us all. The Scriptures speak movingly to our times of despair, commending faith in God as our true and only hope.

Who can forget David?

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Psalm 23:4

And again, Micah says:

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

Micah 7:8

Let us harken, then, to the words of the prophet, who tells us plainly:

Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

Isaiah 50:10

Our God is with us in all darknesses and, in due time, he will lead us out of them all.
